Renewable energy generation is changing the Indian energy profile but much more is needed

Currently at 1.3 MWh (2021-2022) and well below the global average, India’s primary energy demand could surge to 1150–1600 Mtoe by 2040, a 30–60% jump from 2019 levels, with electricity demand potentially doubling or more.
