India sets ambitious goals for solar energy: It's making progress, but also facing challenges.

The National Institute of Solar Energy has estimated that we have a total potential of 750 GW of solar capacity. Currently, India is ranked 4th in terms of the total solar capacity installed. There has been a large-scale effort by the government to push solar forward. A corpus of 7327 cr has been allocated to the solar power sector in the Union Budget of 23-24. Apart from this, the government has also initiated the Solar Park Scheme, under which more than 50 solar parks with a cumulative capacity of 38 GW are to be built.
