India embracing ambitious solar energy goals, but self-sufficiency yet remains elusive

Nearly 98 per cent of Solar modules are made out of crystalline silicon. For this, sand is crystalized into metallurgical silicon, which is then transformed into polysilicon, then silicon wafers, then fabricated into cells, ultimately culminate in the assembly of the final solar modules.
