The minister highlighted India’s achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, with solar tariffs dropping 76% over the last decade. “Tariffs for grid-connected solar plants have decreased from ₹10.95 per unit in FY 2010-11 to ₹2.60 in FY 2023-24,” he said, noting that cost reductions in solar technology are making it more accessible to households and businesses.

​Operating in eight states, AGEL has developed a diverse portfolio, including 400 MW in solar installations and a ₹700 crore Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) project nearing completion to help reduce emissions in power generation. With this range of initiatives, AGEL seeks to align with India's clean energy target of 500 GW by 2030.

The collaboration aims to expand their footprint in the renewable energy sector, encompassing a range of green technologies and projects, from solar and wind energy to green hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuel.

The ISA Assembly, the apex decision-making body of the Alliance, also selected eight Vice Presidents representing the four regional groups for the next term. Ghana and Seychelles were elected for Africa, Australia and Sri Lanka for Asia and the Pacific, Germany and Italy for Europe and Others, and Grenada and Suriname for Latin America and the Caribbean.

As Director General, Khanna will support the ISA Assembly in advancing its mandate, focusing on global solar energy deployment and assisting member countries in overcoming shared challenges.
