Sembcorp Green Hydrogen Pte, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japanese conglomerate Sojitz Corp and energy major Kyushu Electric Power for potential opportunities for green ammonia production, Sembcorp said on Monday.

The project, with an estimated value of ₹2,26,000 for the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD), underscores the state's commitment to sustainable development and addresses the increasing demand for clean energy.

Speaking about the global challenges in sustainability and climate change research, Satapathi emphasized, "Universities have a key role in addressing these challenges through research and innovation."

In a written reply, the minister outlined that the nation has transitioned from a power deficit to a surplus, adding 97,501.2 MW in conventional power and 96,282.9 MW in renewable energy over the past decade.
