When commercial developers and academic institutions team up, it’s a win-win, says Zev Rosenzweig, CEO and Founder of AORA Solar.

Developing the next generation of flexible solar panels

When many people are asked to imagine a solar panel, they will immediately think of the large, dark blue, silicon-based panels commonly seen in residential rooftop installations. However, recent innovations in alternative photovoltaic technologies have opened the possibility of solar panels with features such as flexibility, customised shape and transparency. George Dibb talks about a recent EU project focused on improving the performance and reducing the cost of flexible organic PV panels.

Yokohama partnership to test green hydrogen supply chain in fuel cell forklift deployment

A Japanese partnership, which includes the Yokohama and Kawasaki municipal governments alongside three industrial collaborators, is starting a new project to implement and evaluate an end-to-end, low-carbon hydrogen supply chain, which will use hydrogen produced from renewable energy to power forklifts.

Korean energy storage project features largest lithium NMC system deployed for electricity grid frequency regulation

In South Korea, battery company Kokam has deployed two lithium nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) oxide energy storage systems (ESS) – rated at 24 MW/9 MWh and 16 MW/6 MWh – for frequency regulation on the national electricity grid. The company says that the 24 MW system is the world’s largest-capacity lithium NMC ESS used for frequency regulation.

Measures to stimulate the micro-grid market

Onsite power generation at remote locations presents an attractive business case for many renewable energy companies but at the same time requires considerable market introduction efforts, says Dr. Thomas Hillig.
