NLCIL plans to increase its renewable energy portfolio to 50% of its total planned capacity, raising its renewable energy (RE) capacity from 1.43 GW to 10.11 GW. This shift will involve an investment of approximately ₹50,000 crore, aimed at supporting India’s broader renewable energy targets and contributing to the goal of 'Net Zero' emissions by 2070.

Under the agreement, AMPIN will hold a 51% majority in the JV, with Sumitomo Corporation holding the remaining 49%. The allocated funds will be directed towards the development, construction, and operational phases of projects connected to the State Transmission Utility (STU), specifically targeting Commercial & Industrial (C&I) consumers.

It will take 12 months for Thermax to develop a first prototype and 18 months to finalise the site to set up the manufacturing facility. It to set up a 100MW capacity plant, which will translate to 20,000 tonnes of green hydrogen a year, MD & CEO of Thermax, Ashish Bhandari, said.

Energy storage is the special sauce that makes renewables work anytime, anywhere and everywhere. Being able to send this stored renewable energy back to the grid on demand makes the most of the existing electricity network, including transmission lines.

The minister said that as of July 31, wind power projects with a capacity of 47,075.43MW have been set up in the state and 12,132.78MW of power is being generated. This is 25.8 Percent of the country's total wind energy production, the minister added.

The project, which will benefit from a 15-million-euro ($16.5 million) EU subsidy, is designed to help BP reduce the carbon footprint of its oil refinery located in Castellon, the two companies said in a joint statement.

All new solar rooftop projects, including residential projects, above 10 KiloWatt capacity in Karnataka will now require safety approval from the Chief Electrical Inspector to the government of state (CEIG).
