This development comes as the country’s installed renewable energy (RE) capacity has surged by 165 Percent in the last decade, rising from 75.52 GW in 2014 to over 203 GW in 2024.

“The world must collectively address the imbalance in concentration of green energy investments in order to ensure an energy transition. Solar manufacturing and technology must be democratized to help developing countries,” Modi said during his virtual address to an international audience of heads of state, business leaders, and energy experts.

The Prime Minister said that in the past years, India has taken many massive strides in green energy and that the country's solar energy capacity has increased 32 folds in the past 10 years.

Manufacturing and technology need to be democratised to help developing countries, he said, adding that empowering least developed countries and small island developing states should be a top priority.

The minister suggested the industry find newer and better ways on lowering carbon emission and promoting high productivity and quality steel in the country.

The Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur has been inaugurated by a joint venture of a Russian rolling stock major and an Indian railway PSU. This facility will produce 1,920 sleeper coaches for Vande Bharat trains. The project is expected to create over 10,000 jobs and includes eco-friendly initiatives like solar power and wastewater treatment plants.

Currently, the ALMM only applies to solar modules, limiting participation in government-supported projects to companies that manufacture modules in India.
